Thanks Nick. What would we dumb Americans do without the British. However, while you are correcting our definition of "metaphor" you might want to mix in a spell checker. I mean, "after all", the English are "the source of our language"...and you should know that "women" isn't spelled "womes" and that "Fururama" is properly spelled "Futurama". Why am I even discussing this with someone who drops quotes from Futurama in the first place? But I must concede that without you folks we wouldn't have Monty Python, breakfast tea, and Sean of the Dead...

Don't know about you folks in the USA, but most, if not all of the so called mataphors I've encountered on this site (and others) are not metaphors at all. A metaphor is a figure of speech that expresses by comparing two things - implying that one is the other. I.A.Richards (1936) described them as a Tenor and a Vehicle - the tenor is the subject to which the attributes are ascribed; the vehicle is the subject whose attributes are borrowed... for example, Shakespear's 'As you like it' quotes:

All the worlds a stage
And all the men and womes merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances.

The Tenor (world) is attributed to the vehicle (a stage)
The secondary Tenor (men & women) are attributed to the vehicle (players/actors)

And just to add to it... a conceptual metaphor - exits & entrances (movement on & off stage) is attributed to life & death.

Just to finish of this very English rant (we are after all the source of your language) there are mixed metaphors ~ as quoted in Fururama "If we can hit the bullseye, then the rest of the dominoes will fall over like a pack of cards." Great example folks...

A Writer is like a lady of the night: She does it first for love, but eventually does it for money.

I Used to be a prose.

Damn! I wish I wrote that. I wish I had someone to off once I get out of Nursing school in exactly one year. Oh well I guess I could be happy my life has been free of too much abuse...still they better watch out whoever they are!

The two I would choose are Hot Marriage, with Full Tilt Marriage and Sexual Intimacy ending in a tie!
Charisma sounds like a great idea on it's own although these titles all sound like something my Mom would give me.
I would keep them beside the bed to read, and end up watching the Simpson's instead.
